When the world thinks of India, do you think entrepreneurship is the first thought that comes to mind? Likely not, but when you get to know India entrepreneurial ventures are front and centre for India’s youth.
Two of India’s entrepreneurship communities (The Indus Entrepreneurs and the Indian Angel Network) provide many entrepreneurs with initial funding to pursue their passions and dreams. “We are in the platinum age. At least in the start-up ecosystem. I have never seen this kind of activity.” Said Padmaja Ruparel, President of India’s Angel Network, to The Hindu Business Line Magazine.
In 2018 The Business Times of India stated that, 83% of India’s workforce would prefer an entrepreneurship career, and with over 19,000 new startups the numbers appear to speak for themselves.
And it’s not all about the money. For many of today’s young India entrepreneurs it’s a need to improve the lives of others as a social entrepreneur. One such entrepreneur would be Manav Subodh, the Cofounder for 1M1B, 1 Million for 1 Billion. An organization that provides stability to communities in India and beyond through employment. And then there’s Dr Arvind Badrinarayanan, who designed a digital stethoscope called Taal as part of MUSEinc, a startup in Bengaluru. Did I mention it serves multiple functions, is the cheapest stethoscope on the market, and it even has a rechargeable battery.
So there you have it. India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem is strong, and growing with the help of communities like Young Indians. And as globalization reaches India, it’s certainly not a one way street. Today India’s brilliant, youthful, minds are reaching out, and putting their stamp on the world as well. Indian entrepreneurship is most definitely not fading away, if anything it’s just ramping up. Your Time Is Now!
